We’re riding anti clockwise to the West of York. We leave West through Acomb on to the A1224 to Rufforth and Long Marston. Turning off to Cowthorpe, Little Ribston and in to Knaresborough. South from there to Follifoot, Spofforth, Wetherby. Then back in to York via Askham Bryan College and over the A1237 Bypass on the bike lane to the side of the A64. Then past the Sixth Form college and Knavesmire for an optional cafe stop at Cycle Heaven.

Mudguards are now required to ride with the club. The club ride this Sunday is clockwise to the West of York. Leaving Tesco towards Askham Bryan, Healaugh, Wighill, Wetherby and Spofforth. Then back East through North Deighton, Cowthorpe, Tockwith, Long Marston and Rufforth. Back in to York via Acomb and over the Millenium bridge for an optional cafe stop at Cycle Heaven.
We’re starting from Tesco going anti clockwise to the Northwest of York. A little longer ride than normal to try stay off busy roads and ride some new ones. Heading West through Askham Bryan, Askham Richard and Hutton Wandesley. Over the road through Long Marston, Tockwith and Cowthorpe. North through Little Ribston, skirting round Knaresborough towards Farnham. Eastwards to Arkendale, Great Ouseburn and over the toll bridge through Linton on Ouse, Newton on Ouse, Beningbrough Hall and Overton. Then carefully crossing the A19 coming in to York at Bootham for an optional cafe stop for coffee & cake at Your Bike Shed.
As the wind is forecast to be from the West, we’re doing a clockwise ride to the West of York. We head West on the bike track to Copmanthorpe. Carrying on to Colton, Bilbrough, Askham Richard, Angram, Long Marston, Tockwith and Cowthorpe. Gradually heading North after Walshford and Cattal. Careful over the A59 for a climb up to Whixley. To the Northern most point over Aldwark Toll bridge heading East and then South through Linton-on-Ouse, Newton-on-Ouse and through Beningbrough Hall (possible stop for coffee or ice cream). Round the quiet road to Overton and then back in to York down the A19 for an optional cafe stop for coffee & cake at York Bike Shed.
Another flat ride in a Clockwise direction to the West of York. We head south to Bishopthorpe and Acaster Malbis. Then towards the West through Acaster Selby, Appleton Roebuck and Bolton Percy. Then skirting past Tadcaster on to Walton and Wetherby. North through Kirk Deighton and North Deighton. Then heading back with a tailwind through Cowthorpe, Tockwith, Long Marston, Hutton Wandesley, Angram, Askham Richard and Askham Bryan. Past the start point for an optional cafe stop for coffee & Cake at Your Bike Shed.
Sundays club ride has a mix of roads. Heading West through Askham Bryan and Askham Richard. Then dodging potholes through Angram and Hutton Wandesley. Over the road to Long Marston, Tockwith and Cowthorpe. A couple of bridges and a left turn South for North Deighton and Kirk Deighton. Taking care at the busy roundabout after Wetherby heading to Collingham for a climb hiding round the corner 🙂 Some nice quiet roads from there again watching out for a couple of potholes and oncoming cars as it’s single track. Dropping down in to Bramham for another short sharp climb continuing East. A nice sprint section down in to Tadcaster, taking care over the new footbridge. A right turn for Oxton and Bolton Percy, then back in to York through Colton and Copmanthorpe. Optional Cafe visit afterwards for Coffee and cake.
Sundays ride takes us on familiar roads to the West of York and then some new ones. Heading out through Askham Bryan, Healaugh, Wighill, Thorpe Arch, and Boston Spa. New roads and a steady climb to Collingham, Linton, Sicklinghall, Barrowby and Kirkby Overblow. Then winding back towards York through Spofforth, North Deighton, Cowthorpe, Tockwith, Long Marston and Rufforth. Stop at a cafe for coffee & cake afterwards.
Sundays ride will see us head West out of York through Askham Bryan, Askham Richard, Angram, Hutton Wandesley, Tockwith and Cowthorpe. Then winding back East through Washford, Hunsingore, Cattal, Kirk Hammerton, Long Marston and Rufforth. An optional stop at a cafe for coffee & cake afterwards.
