Full mudguards are required to ride with the club through Winter. We’re riding Clockwise to the West of York. The number of Groups, will depend on the number of people riding.

Forecast suggests a cloudy 3C-6C with 8mph-10mph wind from SW. The route is a shorter version of the Santa ride we did last year. Festive dress and decorations are encouraged 🙂 Heading out to Askham Bryan and onwards to Wetherby, we then go North to Kirk Deighton and East back home through Cowthorpe and Rufforth.

There will be an optional cafe stop on return to Cycle Heaven.

It stays flat as it heads to Flaxton and Thornton Le lay before taking on the monument climb at Castle Howard. From there it cuts across to Terrington before descending Pottacar bank into Hovingham. From there the route ascends past Stonegrave and above Ampleforth. The routes takes us to Wass and Carlton Husthwaite, descending most of the time.Its then home via Easingwold, Crayke and Huby. If you've ever thought of riding with a club but were unsure then this ride is for you. The ride will be 20-25 miles long at a speed of 11-14 mph although priority will be given to keeping together. At least two of our regular club riders will be on the ride to guide you along and give advice. You should be back in time to join the rest of the club at Cycle Heaven for post ride food and drink if you wish. No need to register, just turn up at Cycle Heaven and ride. Going out to Strensall it goes up Terrington Bank then across to Malton. From there its the second big climb of the day at Settrington. Note this can be bypassed by continuing along the B1253 to North Grimston. After Settrington Bank the route passes through North Grimston before heading through Burythorpe on the way to Leavening. Its then onto Howsham and downhill to Bossall, Sand Hutton and home via Warthill and Murton. Distance 59 miles and about 3200 feet of climbing. See more details •	21	22 YRCC 60 mile ride West - Weardley Bank and Eccup (60 miles 1500 feet) YRCC 60 mile ride West - Weardley Bank and Eccup (60 miles 1500 feet) 22nd July 2018 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm Cycle Heaven of York, 31 Hospital Fields Rd, Fulford, York YO10 4FS, UK This ride heads west to Long Marston and towards Harrogate. It stays fairly flat until the gradual climb up to Panel , after which the terrain gets more challenging. There's a descent through Kirkby Overblow before a short stretch along the busy A61. Be careful at the right hand turn onto the A659 towards Otley. After a short while turn left for Weardley and the double climb up Weardley Lane and Eccup Lane, the second being a steep challenging climb. Take the left fork not long after top and enjoy the views along the top of Eccup Reservoir. Cross the A61, admire the big houses in Alwoodley as you start the head for home. From here its downhill all the way to Tadcaster (well , almost). Last updated : February 2018 Distance 60 miles and 1500 feet of climbing. The road then twists around and crosses the reservoir. When crossing the A61 after the reservoir go onto the tarmacked bridleway which rises a short way before coming into Alwoodley.
