Say hello to Mark

Hello! I’m Mark, the Club Chairman for York Rouleurs.

I joined the Rouleurs in 2017 on returning to the UK. I wanted to meet other cyclists, get to know York, and learn some new routes and explore my own riding capabilities.

Rouleurs helped me with all of this and more, I was embraced by the Club and made some great friends. Other than the cafe stops (obviously), the best bits of Club rides is riding with different people each week, moving between faster groups to test myself, having a more social ride and enjoying a good chat and enjoying the fabulous countryside.

The very best bits have been the Rouleurs adventures, in Rotterdam, Mallorca, the epic Way of the Roses weekend and closer to home in the Dales and at the Coast on the Away Rides.

My top tip for anyone interested in joining the Club is ... do it! We're a friendly bunch and I would hope that if you do join you will enjoy it and there will be a ride for you and friends to make. 

The Rouleurs Committee is here to provide the framework for the Club to thrive and to deliver the sort of rides the members want in a way that everyone can access them and enjoy them.

My role on the Committee as Chairman, is to balance the many priorities we have while also making sure all the committee's voices and members' views are heard. Alongside this, my role is to help communicate what the Club is doing, listen to members' views and to plot a way forward with a strategy that we all can support and that ensures the Rouleurs flourishes.
