Group Riding Summary
Key Points
Our club belongs to all of us. We are a fantastic and vibrant club, and every single member adds to the club and makes it what it is. By riding together, cycling can be more enjoyable and we can achieve things that we might never do alone.
When riding with the Rouleurs always remember our Ethos and Code of Conduct.
Shared Responsibility
The safety and enjoyment of the group is everyone’s responsibility. Ensure the group stays together, keep an eye on anyone who may be struggling, and make sure no one is left behind.
Maintain the Agreed Pace
See our Speed bands. Stick to the pace that was agreed upon. These pace ranges allow riders to choose rides at a comfortable speed. Only increase the pace if everyone in the group agrees.
Group Size and Cohesion
Groups should typically be no larger than 10 riders for better cohesion. Keep a safe distance from other groups to avoid creating a roadblock or losing riders.
Provide and Accept Constructive Feedback
If a rider’s behavior is endangering themselves, others, or damaging the club’s reputation, address the issue calmly and promptly. Be open to receiving feedback as well.
Safety and Comfort
Helmets are mandatory on all rides. Make sure you have enough food and spares with you. Always follow the highway code, use FULL mudguards in wet winter months, and ensure your lights are on when it's dark.
